Sailing Virgin Voyages from Miami

Miami is Virgin's biggest homeport. Here is how I plan embarkation day so it runs on rails, plus every Miami sailing open for booking right now.

By Derek Gebelhardt, Top 100 Virgin Voyages First MateFact-checked against Virgin’s official policies October 20, 2026

The short answer

  • Virgin sails from Terminal V at PortMiami, 718 N Cruise Blvd, Miami, FL 33132.
  • Parking is about $25 a day in PortMiami’s long-term lots (Virgin’s FAQ still says $22). There are no reservations, and you pay when you leave.
  • Arrive at the time slot you picked in the app, not earlier. There is no seating outside the terminal.
  • Boarding generally starts around 2:15 pm, and luggage is accepted from 9 am.
  • I always tell clients to fly in the day before.

Where Virgin sails from in Miami

Every Virgin Voyages sailing from Miami uses Terminal V at PortMiami, 718 N Cruise Blvd, Miami, FL 33132 (Virgin port information). It is Virgin’s own terminal on the north side of the port.

My tip: Type the street address into your rideshare app, not just “PortMiami.” The port is long, and drivers sometimes head for the wrong end.

Getting to Terminal V

Miami International Airport (MIA) is about 8 to 10 miles from the port. Plan on 15 to 45 minutes depending on traffic, and longer on a Friday afternoon. Fort Lauderdale (FLL) is about 26 miles away, so it is a fine option if the flights are better, but leave much more time.

OptionWhat to know
Taxi or rideshare from MIAThe simplest door-to-door option. Expect 15 to 45 minutes.
From FLLAbout 26 miles. Leave at least an hour, more in rush hour.
From a Miami hotelThe free City of Miami trolley stops near Terminal V, per Virgin’s port FAQ. Most of my clients still take a car with luggage.
Driving and parkingSee the parking section below.

I do not book airfare myself, but I will tell you which arrival times leave a safe buffer, and I can line up a hotel for the night before. Already working with me? You can also browse and book Miami hotels in my Fora portal.

Parking at PortMiami

The closest garage to Terminal V is Garage G. PortMiami’s current fee schedule lists long-term parking at $25 per vehicle, per day, and short-term (no overnight) at $10 (PortMiami tariff). Virgin’s own port FAQ still lists the older $22 rate, so budget about $25 a night to be safe.

  • There is no reserved parking. You cannot prebook a space (PortMiami FAQ).
  • You pay when you exit. Virgin’s FAQ notes debit cards are not accepted, so bring a credit card.
  • A 7-night sailing is about $175 to $200 in parking. For two people, a round-trip rideshare from a nearby hotel is often the better value.

Embarkation day, step by step

Weeks beforeFinish Ready to Sail in the app and pick your terminal arrival time. Earlier slots go first.
72 hours outPrint-at-home luggage tags are emailed. Tags are also available at the terminal.
From 9 amPorters accept luggage at Terminal V. Keep medication, documents, a swimsuit and any wine in your carry-on.
Your slotArrive no more than 15 minutes before your time. There is no seating outside, and Florida in summer is hot.
About 1:45 pmSailors with Deep Blue Extras can arrive from 1:45 pm for priority boarding.
About 2:15 pmGeneral boarding usually starts. RockStar sailors use their own lounge, entered via Palm Way.
Once on boardYour cabin may not be ready yet. Have lunch at The Galley and check your dining reservations.

Wheelchair assistance is available from the terminal entrance to the gangway. Tell Virgin on the accessibility form well ahead of time. I explain how in my accessibility guide.

Fly in the day before

DG

I strongly recommend this to every client. A delayed flight on embarkation morning can mean watching the ship leave without you, and Virgin will not wait. Arrive the day before, sleep in Miami, and treat embarkation morning as the start of your vacation, not a race.

If you can only do the same day, book the earliest nonstop you can and buy travel insurance that covers missed departures. I walk through the other first-timer traps in my first-timer mistakes guide.

The last morning

Disembarkation in Miami runs until about 10:45 am, and you pick a departure slot in the app (Virgin disembarkation FAQ). Miami uses CBP facial recognition, so U.S. passport holders often walk through without handing anything over. If you are doing a back-to-back, Virgin lets you leave your luggage in the cabin.

My tip: For flights home, I suggest departures after about 1 pm. Before that is possible, but it is tight if customs is slow.

Every Miami sailing open for booking

Most Miami sailings call at The Beach Club at Bimini. These are the next 25 departures. Use my voyage quiz to search them all.

Terminal V at PortMiami, 718 N Cruise Blvd, Miami, FL 33132.

How much is parking for Virgin Voyages in Miami?

PortMiami's current tariff lists long-term parking at $25 per vehicle, per day. Virgin's FAQ still shows an older $22 rate. Garage G is closest, there are no reservations, and you pay when you exit.

What time does Virgin Voyages boarding start in Miami?

How far is the Miami airport from Terminal V?

Miami International is about 8 to 10 miles away, usually 15 to 45 minutes. Fort Lauderdale is about 26 miles away.

Can I fly into Miami the same day as my Virgin cruise?

You can, but I do not recommend it. A delay can mean missing the ship. I tell every client to arrive the day before.

How I keep this guide accurate. I check every policy, fare and date against Virgin Voyages’ own FAQs and contract first, and use official port and government sources for anything Virgin does not publish. I re-check each guide at least every 90 days and the same week Virgin announces a change. Last fully checked October 20, 2026. Spot something out of date? Tell me and I will fix it.
