Travel better, not perfectly.
Stay somewhere incredible. Order the good bottle of wine. Eat the dessert. And leave the places you love a little better for being there. No guilt trips, just smarter choices.
Our choices matter.
Travel introduces us to new cultures, communities, landscapes, food and perspectives. It also leaves a footprint. Sustainable travel isn't about telling you you're traveling wrong. It's about doing a little better where we can.
Where we stay
Looking past a hotel's "green" marketing to see what it's actually doing.
Who we book with
Locally owned guides and tour operators keep more tourism dollars in the destination.
How we treat wildlife
Skipping exploitative animal experiences and supporting real conservation.
Respecting culture
Honoring local traditions and heritage, not just photographing them.
Less waste
Cutting what's unnecessary without cutting what makes the trip special.
Where the money goes
Thinking about local housing and resources, and spending intentionally in the communities we visit.
And sometimes there is no perfect answer. Budgets, abilities, priorities and reasons for traveling are different for everyone. Responsible tourism is about awareness and informed choices when those choices are available.
The questions I ask before I book.
I want to know more than what something costs or how good it looks on Instagram.
How does this company treat its community?
Does tourism revenue benefit local people?
How are cultural heritage and wildlife treated?
Are the environmental claims meaningful, or just marketing?
Who actually benefits from the experience we're buying?
Your trip gets these answers built in.
Trained to ask better questions.
I've pursued academic and professional studies in sustainable tourism and earned the GSTC Professional Certificate in Sustainable Tourism, grounded in the Global Sustainable Tourism Council's internationally recognized framework.
That education taught me to look at the environmental, social, cultural and economic sides of tourism, and to read industry claims with a critical eye.
I'm happy to share what I've learned. Not because you should plan your vacation around a checklist, but because informed travelers can make meaningful differences.

See the world. Care about it, too.
The places we love visiting are also someone's home, someone's livelihood and often part of an environment or culture worth protecting. We don't have to travel perfectly. We just have to care enough to do better where we can.
