The Massive Suite: is it worth it?
I stayed in a Massive Suite on Valiant Lady in June 2026 while hosting a 40th birthday group. It is the most impressive cabin Virgin sells. It is also not the right cabin for most couples, and I will tell you why.
The short answer
- There are two Massive Suites per ship, at about 2,147 sq ft, sleeping up to four.
- You get a private hot tub, an outdoor shower, a music room with guitars and a turntable, and a dining table for six.
- It is a Mega RockStar category, with the top tier of RockStar perks.
- My view: brilliant for hosting, not worth it for two people who will not use the space.
What you get
From Virgin’s fact sheet: each ship has two Massive Suites. Each is about 2,147 square feet and sleeps four. The second bedroom doubles as a music room with guitars and a turntable. Outside there is a private hot tub, an outdoor shower, a conversation pit and stargazing loungers. Inside there is a dining table for six with a staircase built so you can, in Virgin’s words, dance on the table. For comparison, a Seriously Suite is about 352 square feet.
Mega RockStar perks
- Everything RockStar suites get, including a RockStar Agent, early boarding and a 120-day dining window. I list them all in my RockStar Quarters guide.
- Drinks up to $25 each and two bottles of wine a day up to $90, then 25% off after that, per Virgin’s drinks FAQ.
- Complimentary port transportation, per Virgin’s new bookings FAQ.
- Your RockStar Agent can arrange in-suite parties, with food through ShipEats.
RockStar perks change from time to time, and some depend on your fare. I confirm the current list when we book.
My stay
I had about 20 cabins and 40 people on board for a 40th birthday, and the Massive Suite was where our group gathered. My RockStar Agent arranged food for those gatherings. For hosting, it does exactly what it is built for.
What I value most in RockStar is not the free drinks. It is the service and the convenience: someone who makes things happen, and not having to stand in a line.
Who should book it, and who should not
| Book it if | Skip it if |
|---|---|
| You are hosting a group, a celebration or a lot of friends | You are two people who want a beautiful room |
| Four adults will actually use both bedrooms | You will mostly be off the ship or at the shows |
| Entertaining is part of the trip | The fare difference would pay for a second trip |
I tell clients the truth here: the Massive Suite is not worth it for two people who will not use the space. For a couple, my baseline is the Seriously Suite. My favorite is the Cheeky Corner, which can connect to a neighbor (its bathroom is smaller). The Posh Suite is great for entertaining on a smaller scale. The Sweet Aft has great views, but I like its layout less.
How to get one
With only two per ship, availability is limited. Think of it as a group expense: split across the cabins it hosts, it can make more sense than it looks. I have also won several Level Upgrade bids for clients, and I explain how bidding works in my upgrade bid guide.
