Build your Bar Tab (your way)

Not everyone drinks the house pour, and that's the point. Three quick steps: your voyage, how you like to drink, and any Loot or Bar Tab you already have. Then I'll show you what you’ll really spend on your sailing.

Zero judgement zone

Doubles at brunch? Espresso martini at 10 am?

Order whatever makes you happy. Whether it's top shelf, a heavy pour, or three pressed juices and a nap, it's your vacation. Who am I to judge? These questions are only here to make your estimate accurate.

Your voyage

Do you have a voyage picked out?

Pick it, and I'll fill in your nights and VAT automatically.

Sailing from Barcelona or around Europe?

EU tax rules add VAT to drinks on some European sailings. Barcelona round trips that only stop at EU ports charge about 10% Spanish VAT on drinks for the whole voyage. With a non-EU stop, VAT only applies while the ship is in EU ports, so enter how many of those port days you have.

Loot and Bar Tab you already have

Any Sailor Loot or Bar Tab already in your booking?

Check your booking or ask me. MNVV, DBE, and Bar Tab or Loot promos often add onboard money before you buy a thing.

Sailor LootWorks on almost any onboard purchase, including drinks, spa, shopping, and excursions.
Bar TabDrinks only, at any bar or restaurant onboard and at The Beach Club at Bimini.

Free and not counted: water, soda, drip coffee, tea, and non-pressed juice. Menu rates include gratuity but not VAT, so VAT is added on top for European sailings. VV doesn't print doubles rates, so I estimate a double as one extra pour at your shelf's rate.

How the Bar Tab works

A Bar Tab is prepaid money for drinks only. You can use it at any bar or restaurant onboard and at The Beach Club at Bimini. Buy it before you sail and Virgin adds bonus value on top. Sailor Loot is different: it works on almost any onboard purchase, drinks included.

$300+$50*$350
$500+$100$600

*Sea-Rover sailors get +$100 and Sea-Blazer sailors get +$125 on each $300 Bar Tab.

Good to know

Quick answers

When can I buy a Bar Tab?

Up to 24 hours before you sail. I can add it to your booking for you.

What happens to unused Bar Tab money?

It doesn't refund, so it's smart to prepay a bit under your estimate and put the rest on your card.

Sailor Loot vs. Bar Tab: what's the difference?

Sailor Loot (from MNVV, DBE, or a Loot promo) works on almost any onboard purchase, drinks included. Bar Tab is drinks only. If you have Loot, the calculator lets you decide how much of it goes to drinks.

Do I pay VAT on drinks in Europe?

On some sailings, yes. Barcelona round trips with only EU stops charge about 10% Spanish VAT on drinks for the whole trip. Itineraries with a non-EU stop only charge it while the ship is in EU ports and nearby waters, so the calculator counts VAT on your EU port days only. Heads up: if the non-EU stop gets cancelled, VAT can apply to the whole trip. Anything over your Bar Tab just goes on your card, so there's no need to prepay for that possibility. VAT is billed on top of menu rates and comes out of your Bar Tab like the drink itself, so it's worth building into your estimate. Retail purchases have a separate VAT refund process onboard.

What drinks are free?

Water, soda, drip coffee, tea, and regular juice are included. Specialty coffee, pressed juice, and anything alcoholic is extra.

Can I bring my own wine?

Yes. Each cabin can carry on two bottles of wine at embarkation.

Are these menu rates current?

They come from current onboard menus, checked in October 2026. Virgin changes menus often, so treat them as a close estimate.
