The Beach Club at Bimini
Most Miami sailings stop at Virgin's own Beach Club at Bimini in the Bahamas. It is an easy, relaxing day, and you do not have to spend anything. Here is what is included and what is worth paying for.
The short answer
- A free tram runs between the pier and the Beach Club every few minutes.
- Included: Bahamian-inspired food, soda and water, two pools, the beach, loungers, Wi-Fi, lockers and showers.
- Extra: cocktails (your Bar Tab works), cabanas, Mermaid Hideaway and Shore Things.
- It is adults only, like the ships.
- Leave the shells on the beach. The Bahamas does not allow you to take them.
What is included
From Virgin’s Beach Club page:
- All-you-can-eat Bahamian-inspired food, with vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options.
- Soda and water.
- Two large pools (about 6,200 and 7,200 square feet), the private beach, loungers, daybeds and hammocks.
- Wi-Fi, lockers, changing cabanas, restrooms and showers.
- A DJ, pool volleyball, and morning yoga and meditation on the beach.
What’s extra
Cocktails, beer and frozen drinks are extra, and your prepaid Bar Tab works at the bars and huts. Private cabanas, the VIP cabanas, the Airstream and Mermaid Hideaway are rentals. Mermaid Hideaway is air-conditioned and comes with $200 in drink allowance. RockStar sailors get Richard’s Retreat, a reserved VIP area.

From Virgin’s Shore Things listings. Rates change, and cabana rates are per booking rather than per person, so check the app for your date.
Bimini is a Virgin-run stop, so I do not suggest outside tour companies here.
How I would plan the day
My Bimini plan
- Head over early if you want a lounger near the pool.
- If you are a group of four or more, a cabana split several ways is often worth it for the shade and service.
- If you drink, a prepaid Bar Tab with a bonus can cover a beach day. Check with my Bar Tab calculator.
- Bring reef-friendly sunscreen, a hat and cash for tips.
- Bring your Band and a government ID ashore, as on any port day.
My take
I have hosted my LGBTQ+ meetup group in a Bimini cabana, and for a group it made the day. Bimini is not a big sightseeing day, and that is the point. Treat it as a beach day with good food that is already paid for. I tell clients not to overspend here unless a cabana will make the day for their group.

Want me to plan this one with you?
I'm a Top 100 Virgin Voyages First Mate (2024 and 2025). Virgin sets the fare, so the same cabin, fare type and promotion is the same fare with me as on virginvoyages.com, and I charge no planning fee. What you get is a person: I hand-pick your cabin where your fare allows, book dining and Shore Things the day your windows open, watch for upgrades and fare changes, and answer your texts before and during the trip. I also arrange hotels before and after the cruise, private excursions and group plans, and I deal with Virgin for you when a booking or benefit needs sorting out. I take the stress.
