Virgin Voyages from Amsterdam: Scandinavia, the Baltic and Norway

In summer 2028, Valiant Lady sails Virgin's first season from Amsterdam: the Norwegian fjords, Stockholm, Copenhagen and an Arctic Circle crossing. Here's everything announced so far.

By Derek Gebelhardt, Top 100 Virgin Voyages First MateFact-checked against Virgin’s official policies October 20, 2026

The short answer

  • Ship: Valiant Lady, July 9 to August 25, 2028.
  • Four voyages from Amsterdam of 7 to 12 nights, plus a 10-night Barcelona to Amsterdam opener.
  • Bookings opened August 13, 2026. It is one summer with only four voyages from Amsterdam, so I would book early.

The five voyages

Arctic Circle and Norwegian FjordsAug 14–25, 202811Bergen, Tromsø, Honningsvåg, Trondheim, Åndalsnes, Olden

After the Arctic sailing, the season closes in Barcelona on August 25, 2028.

Which one I would pick

  • First time in Scandinavia: the 12-night Stockholm Overnight. You get capitals, plus a night in Stockholm.
  • Short on time: the 7-night Norwegian Fjords. It is all scenery, with Flåm and Bergen.
  • Bucket list: the 11-night Arctic Circle, with Tromsø, Honningsvåg near the North Cape, and the crossing ceremony.
  • Food and nightlife: the 7-night Scandinavia and Hamburg, with late stays in Copenhagen and Hamburg.

The Season Pass

Virgin also sells a Season Pass for all four Amsterdam voyages back to back: $24,999 per cabin, double occupancy, paid in full at booking. It includes a Central Sea Terrace for two, plus:

  • $15 per sailor, per night in drink allowance, and a 60-day dining reservation window
  • One complimentary Shore Thing per voyage, per sailor (up to $250 each), and early Shore Things access 135 days out
  • Work From Sea Wi-Fi, Wash & Fold laundry and a sea-day Thermal Suite pass each voyage
  • Priority boarding, back-to-back handling and a private Champagne breakfast for the Arctic Circle crossing
DG

The Season Pass only makes sense if you truly want 37 nights in a row. For most clients, one or two back-to-back voyages are the sweet spot, and I can quote those with my Sailor Loot added.

Good to know for Northern Europe

  • Passport book required. The EU’s Entry/Exit System has been running since April 10, 2026, and records fingerprints and a photo on your first entry. ETIAS has not started and has no start date yet. I will update this before the 2028 season. See my passport guide.
  • VAT on drinks: expect value-added tax on bar purchases in some European waters. My Bar Tab calculator accounts for it.
  • Pack for weather: mild days, cool evenings and rain, especially in the fjords and the Arctic.
  • Long daylight: the sun barely sets in the far north in July and August. Bring an eye mask if you are a light sleeper.

What I do for 2028 Northern Europe clients

First Mate playbook

What I do for my clients

  • I hold cabins early, because with only four voyages from Amsterdam the best Central Sea Terraces go first.
  • I compare a single voyage, a back-to-back and the Season Pass in real dollars before you commit.
  • I book Amsterdam hotels with Fora or Virtuoso perks for the nights before and after.
  • I track EES and ETIAS and tell you if anything changes before you fly.
